Upcoming Community Outreach Projects

Our annual Prom King Clothing Drive provides dress suits for Middle and High School young men to wear during graduation and prom. We request  donations of clothing items such as suits, ties, slacks, dress shirts, etc. from local cleaners that may have been unclaimed by customers, from members of the service, as well as department stores such as Macys, MensWarehouse, DSW, etc., willing to donate based upon our 501c(3) status. This is one of our signature events designed to contribute to the ongoing effort of bridging the gap between the community and the NYPD.

We are currently in our collection stage. If you are interested in donating clothing, time, etc to this event let us know. Contact us via email at: inquiries@nypdguardians.org

Or go to the “Committees” page and sign up through the link

The NYPD Guardians Association has volunteer teams operating with various community organizations. One of these such organizations is the New York Road Runners.

For the past four years, the Guardians Association has participated in the annual TCS NYC Marathon as volunteers at the Gatorade and water stations located along the 26.219 miles that make up the route. Members and friends have been faithful volunteers, showing up every year to make sure that the race could be run. This year is no different.

The time is NOW to sign up to volunteer as part of the NYPD Guardians Association volunteer team at the upcoming 2018 TCS New York City Marathon scheduled for  Sunday November 4, 2018. Here is how it is done:

  1. Visit My NYRR and click REGISTER to create and activate your profile.
  2. Click “VOLUNTEER” in the left navigation of your My NYRR portal and select your opportunity from the VOLUNTEER FOR THE TCS NEW YORK CITY MARATHON options. Look for START – 2018 TCS New York City Marathon (not 9+1 eligible), FLUID STATIONS – 2018 TCS New York City Marathon (not 9+1 eligible), or STATION SUPPORT – 2018 TCS New York City Marathon (not 9+1 eligible) opportunities. Traditionally we have assisted at Fluid Station – Mile 9, and Fluid Station – Mile 23, but we encourage you to register to assist at a station that is convenient for you. The report time is pretty early –  6AM. This is a Great Opportunity for youth groups to participate in as well. If you’re an Explorer Advisor, Girl / Boy Scout leader, or just have kids in your house that could do with a little early waking and community service hour earning, sign them up as well. You must be 18 years old to volunteer, but 18 year olds [considered adults for signup] can sign up to three youth less than 18 years old.
  3. Representatives from NYRR will be coming through to our upcoming membership meetings to assist with signup.
  4. Registration closes Friday August 31, 2018.
