Chris Rock’s Mom Finally Opens Up About Will Smith Oscars Slap
Comedian Chris Rock's mother has officially opened up about Will Smith slapping her son during the 2022 Academy Awards.
In a recent interview with WIS News, Rock's mother Rose Rock has opened up about how she feels about the infamous incident.
Rose stated that this was the first Oscars ceremony that she has not attended personally
While watching the broadcast, Rose admitted she thought Smith slapping Rock was scripted until he "started using obscenities.
"When he slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me.
"No one even heard his speech."
No one was able to just be in the moment because everyone was sitting there like, 'what just happened?
"I wouldn’t take his award away, and I don’t see any good way they could have taken him out without disrupting.
I feel really bad that he never apologized
I mean his people wrote up a piece saying I apologize to Chris Rock, but you see something like that is personal, you reach out."
Rock's mother stated that she personally doesn't think the Academy should take Smith's Oscar back
She doesn't see a way that Smith could have been removed from the ceremony
Rose would only like a more personal apology from Smith, rather than the one he released to the press
Rose will once again attend the Academy Awards in person to make sure no one else tries to hit her son
